Juice Therapies For The Treatment Of Jaundice And Cholera

How can juice therapy work effectively for diseases like jaundice and cholera. What other foods can be consumed by cholera patients?

Lemon juice is believed to be highly efficient in treating the symptoms of cholera or jaundice. A regular intake of fresh lemon juice, either by itself or blended with other fresh fruit juices provides the body the necessary nutrients required to battle against the disease causing germs. Lemon juice also helps in purging the intestines and keeping them healthy. The juice of fresh cucumbers helps in alleviating the painful symptoms and suffering caused due to cholera or jaundice. Blend whole cucumbers and liquidize the leaves along with the cucumbers. This must be drunk without any additives. The juice is not only beneficial in inhibiting the symptoms of excessive thirst caused due to the disease but also replenishes the internal fluids required to defend the body against the cholera virus.

Effect Of Juice Therapy On Body

According to some folk remedies, it is crucial that the body’s acidity levels are balanced in order to spew out the harmful toxins from the body, in addition to the excess liquid that the body finds hard to ingest. Since the digestive system is endangered in the wake of a cholera attack, the intake of solid foods is not recommended for patients with cholera or jaundice. Liquids, juices, soups, broths and liquid foods are the suggested food options available to the patient. Encourage the patient to consume pure fruit juices, made from freshly squeezed fruits without the use of additives or blended with clean filtered water, as much as possible. The following foods when blended in the form of a liquid or soup are also useful in treating cholera or jaundice:

The bulb of an onion plant

Mint leaves

Apple Cider Vinegar

The regular intake of onion juice is highly advocated as it suppresses raging thirst and satisfies the patent’s uneasiness. In both cholera and jaundice, complete bed rest is advised until the symptoms of the disease settle. Refrain from offering any kind of solid and piquant foods during the course of treating any of the diseases.

A diet comprising fresh fruits, fresh fruit juices, and fresh vegetable juices is the only form of diet that must be resorted to in the event of jaundice or cholera. Other useful juices are fresh orange juice, fresh lemon juice, fresh grape juice, fresh pear juice, fresh carrot, and beet juices, among others. Sugar cane juice blended with lemon juice is also believed to be a splendid form of treatment for jaundice.

Alcohol And Bilirubin Levels In Liver Cirrhosis Disease

After how many months can I take Alcohol recovering from Jaundice ailment? Please recommend dietary supplements too

Also known as Icterus, jaundice is a yellowish staining of the skin, conjunctiva membrane over the sclera (whites of the eye), and other mucus caused by increased levels of bilirubin in blood. The usual value of bilirubin is 0.5 mg/dL, and it must exceed three times this value for the staining to become visible. When the bilirubin is very high, the color of the skin and sclera turns brown.

Bilirubin occurs in the red blood cells. These red blood cells are destroyed when they get old. Hemoglobin, which carries the oxygen in red blood cells, is released from the red blood cells after they are destroyed. The chemical that remains in the blood after the removal of hemoglobin is called bilirubin.

It is the liver’s function to remove the toxic chemicals and waste products such as bilirubin from the blood. The liver cleanses the blood from bilirubin but the liver cells attach themselves to the bilirubin. A bilirubin/glucuronic acid complex is then secreted into bile, and is called conjugated bilirubin. However, the bilirubin that is not removed from the blood keeps increasing in content and thus forms unconjugated bilirubin, showing the symptoms of jaundice.

Jaundice and Alcohol For Jaundice

The liver is severely damaged by the abuse of alcohol. Alcohol is strongly forbidden to patients of jaundice, and they should avoid it for as long as a year because of the possibility of damaging the liver cells.

Diet for Jaundice

Jaundice patients should rest in bed until the symptoms reduce. The treatment of jaundice may take some time and solid foods should be avoided in the first few days. You may consume fresh fruit and vegetable juices. A high carbohydrate based diet minimizes the strain on the damaged liver. Soft custard, curd rice, porridge, and other soft food may be consumed as it is easily digestible.

Fruits and vegetables such as lemon, grapes, pear, carrot, beet, tomatoes, and sugarcane are strongly recommended, and should be used to prepare fresh juices. Sugarcane juice is a high carbohydrate diet, and it may be taken twice daily. Prepare the juice fresh in a hygienic way. Owing to the low resistance that comes with jaundice, unhygienic juices will do you more harm than good. When your condition starts to improve, partake of a well-balanced diet, with lots of fruit and vegetables such as pineapple, papaya, apple, orange, carrots, and spinach. Avoid fats such as butter, cream, and oil.

Liver Disease Treatment For Recovering From Jaundice

Please suggest a good diet for a non vegetarian 13 years old girl 2 months after recovering from Jaundice.

The basics of recovering from jaundice are really quite simple. You would need to take it easy, eat light and rest well. If you are 13 years old, you should make sure that your immunity is restored before you begin to go about your life as usual. It is essential to rest as well as complete the course of medication prescribed to you by the doctor. Jaundice is the kind of disease wherein once the medication starts to show effect, you will begin to feel recovered. However this is not always the case. While medication can make you feel good, it is important to note that jaundice is a disease of the liver and this organ is delicate and takes time to heal completely. You will need to rest, primarily. Apart from which you should also follow a completely low fat and high fluid diet, the best way to completely restore liver function. Even if you are primarily a non vegetarian, who means a meat eating person, you would still have to live sparsely. You can take meat products but in controlled quantities.

Causes Of Jaundice And Liver Disease Treatment

One of the best things you can take for your ailment is chicken soup. This is considered to be extremely strong in healing properties. It is advisable to take this soup with a couple of meals a day. You are also advised to take it as you would a broth, rather than work it into a thick soup. It is also not a good idea to add any spice to your soup. If anything, you can add a pinch of pepper and season your soup with salt. Meat must also be eaten grilled only. This is the best form in which it will be easiest to digest. The point of resting the body after recovering from jaundice is also to help the digestive system to come up to speed. This can only happen if you give it complete rest for a good 6 months after you have had the disease. This is important because while externally, your body may lull you into believing that things are fine, but internally, the liver would take a whole lot more of effort and time to recover and start functioning at top speed again. Since it is just a matter of six months, as opposed to living with a damaged liver all your life, you are better off abstaining from whatever you wean to eat for this short duration.

Jaundice Diet Chart and Remedies for Jaundice

Jaundice is a disease of the liver, which is a result of imbalance in the bile duct. It indicates the malfunctioning of the liver, which results in the discharge of pigments and bile salts. These salts are released into the intestine. The bile salts combine with blood, thereby resulting in yellowing of the skin. Gall stones and inflammation of liver or hepatitis results in blockage of the bile ducts. Jaundice is not a serious disease of its own. Certain underlying conditions, such as hepatitis make conditions worse. Symptoms of jaundice are muscle cramps, fever, yellow discoloration of the eyes and skin, clay colored stools, sensation of itch, liver pain and bitter taste of the mouth.

A balanced low fat diet is helpful in the case of jaundice. Fruit and vegetable juices are of great help, in the initial stages of recovery period. High carbohydrate diet with soft foods is provided after the initial stage. This prevents any kind of strain on the liver. Rice and yoghurt, broken wheat porridge and custard are easily digestible and is helpful for jaundice. Juices of carrot, sugar cane, grapes, tomato and pears are useful. Lime juice with sugar cane juice is useful to speedup the recovery from jaundice. Resistance to infection is poor during jaundice. Hence clean and hygienic food is recommended. Alcohol is completely avoided.
Green leaves, which are well cooked, provide relief from constipation or poor bowel movement and jaundice. Minimum amount of fat is helpful, as liver functioning is impaired.

Jaundice Medicine and Diet During Jaundice Treatment

Avoid saturated fats, such as lard, butter, margarine, clarified butter and so on. Caffeinated beverages and caffeine containing foods with refined foods, such as, refined flour and sugar are not preferred. Radish leaves are also highly beneficial. Wheat tortillas with steamed veggies are good for a meal. A glass of buttermilk is also a part of the meal. Olive oil is recommended to a minimal level. Saturated fats are harmful. Pulses and legumes are restricted, as they putrefy in the intestine, thereby affecting the digestive system.

Chocolates are a big ‘no-no’ during jaundice. Cakes, pastries, cola, ice cream and potato crisps are not recommended. Milkshake with boiled milk is allowed after the first week of infection. Animal foods are difficult to digest, as it requires more bile for production. Citrus fruits are helpful, due to their content of vitamin C. Porridge is yet another soft and bland diet food, which is of great help. Boiled and filtered water is taken. Caffeinated beverages are not preferred. Avoid using raw milk, as infection risk is high. Coconut water is good for recovery and electrolyte supplementation.
