Purine Rich Food And Gout Nutrition

I am having high Uric Acid with High trigliceride. I would request you to please guide me with a proper diet regimen for the same

Patients with a high Uric acid and high Triglyceride are normally recommended to follow a strict diet to control the levels of uric acid and triglyceride in the system. Uric acid is normally eliminated from the body by the kidneys and a slightly high level of uric acid in the body does not do much harm, but extremely high levels of uric acid can lead to the formation of crystals which accumulate in the joints and lead to gout. Diets to reduce uric acid levels usually involve reducing the intake of foods which contain high levels of purines. If you want to reduce the levels the Uric Acid in your blood, you should restrict your consumption of meats such as pork and beef.

Diet For High Triglyceride

Poultry and other white meat such as ham can be consumed occasionally since they are not as harmful as red meats. Peas, beans, mushrooms, cauliflower and spinach are all high in uric acid content and should be avoided. Breads and alcohol which contain a reasonably high level of yeast should also be avoided since they are high in uric acid content. On the other hand, there are several food products which help to reduce the level of uric acid in the system. These include black cherry juice and celery seed extract.

A high triglyceride level is harmful since it can lead to cholesterol deposits and eventually a higher risk of strokes or arteriosclerosis. In order to reduce your levels of triglyceride in the blood, you should immediately lower your sugar levels by cutting down on your intake of sweets and alcohol. You should also reduce your consumption of nicotine, thus effectively stop smoking. Since high fat diets increase triglyceride levels in the blood, it is also recommended to stick to a low fat diet and avoid all sources of sugar such as jellies, jams and candy, starches found in rice, pasta, potatoes, pizza, chips and pretzels and refined or processed grains used to make breads and pasta.

You should also avoid all hydrogenated fats found in margarine, fried foods and most commercial snack food like pies, cakes and pastries. It goes without saying that beverages with additional sugar such as fruit juices, carbonated drinks, sweetened coffee, smoothies etc, flavored yoghurts and sweetened cereals should be avoided. Foods recommended to lower triglyceride levels are fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and cereals, nuts, lentils, fish, low-fat soy products and fat-free dairy products.

Information on Triglycerides and Triglyceride Reduction

First of all, a lot of care is essential, as the complications are too many. Information regarding the exact levels is not available. High cholesterol and triglyceride levels indicate the presence of hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. High cholesterol is a result of poor eating habits, improper lifestyle, smoking and alcohol consumption, heredity and so on. Include a lot of fresh fruits and veggies in your diet. Reduce the intake of saturated fats. Opt for unsaturated fats, such as olive, groundnut, safflower and sunflower oil. Cook in non stick cookware to decrease the oil in the diet. Fish is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids, which is good for the heart.

High cholesterol and high blood pressure are risk factors for heart diseases and atherosclerosis. Avoid red meat and processed meats as they are loaded with marbled fat. Sausages and bacon are some of them. Olive, canola or peanut oil are of great help. A healthy lifestyle, devoid of smoking and alcoholic beverages, proves beneficial. The diet is the same in case of high blood pressure, though extra care is necessary with respect to usage of salt. Decrease the intake of processed and readymade foods, as they are a good source of fat and salt.

Diet For Hypertriglyceridemia

High uric acid levels are seen in individuals with gout. It is also seen to be hereditary. High uric acid levels have a positive correlation with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. High uric acid is a result of high intake of purine rich foods, improper elimination of uric acid through urine and increase in body production of uric acid. The end product of purine is uric acid. Avoid high purine foods such as mushroom, yeast, cauliflower, meat extract, beer, asparagus, spinach, legume, consommé, kidney, lever, herring, anchovies, alcoholic beverages, dried beans, gravies and peas.

Borderline diabetes indicates the risk of high blood glucose level, in the near future. A six meal pattern is a good substitute for the regular three meal pattern. Decrease the intake of starchy vegetables. Avoid fruits, such as grapes, chickoo, banana, mango and pineapple. Include papaya, guava, apple and oranges. Increase the intake of yellow and orange veggies, in addition to green leaves. Avoid skipping meals, as it results in increase in hunger pangs by the end of the day. This in turn results in increase in the daily intake. Do not fast or feast. Avoid saturated fats. Abstain from junk foods, such as burgers, crisps and pizzas. Carbonated beverages are a complete ‘no-no’.
