Boils Home Remedies

What are boils? Boils are skin infections which appear as red nodules. They are generally caused by Staphylococcus which is a bacterial infection. It forms at the base of a hair follicle, when it gets traumatized or blocked by lotions, sweat or oily ointments. They may occur singly or in clusters. People who are staphylococcus carriers are more prone to getting boils.

Boils usually start out as a red swelling on the skin, which rapidly becomes larger, more painful and forms a hard knot filled with pus. It may be accompanied by itching and irritation. The skin around the boil also becomes red and inflamed, and if the boil is very large or if there are many of them, the person may sometimes suffer from fever. When the boil comes to a head, it may start to ooze. Boils usually appear on the buttocks, groin, thigh, underarm, face, or scalp and last for 8 to 12 days.

Home remedies for boils: Although boils look unsightly, in most cases they are not a threat to an individual’s health and can be cured quickly with home remedies.

Onion and garlic are considered to be very effective boils home remedies. You might use the juice of either onion or garlic, or mix the two together. Apply the juice to the boil 2 or 3 times in the day. This will cause slight irritation to the skin around the boil which helps to ‘ripen’ the boil, causing it to burst open and release the pus. Bitter gourd has also been effectively used, especially for blood-filled boils. Make half a cup of juice of this vegetable, mix a teaspoon of lemon juice in it and drink this in the morning on an empty stomach. Do this for a few days, to clean your system of the bacteria causing the boils.

Parsley can be applied to boils as a poultice. Soak parsley leaves in boiled water for about an hour, until it becomes soft. Now, wrap these leaves in a clean cloth and apply them against the boils.

Turmeric also helps faster healing of boils. Roast some pieces of turmeric and grind to a powder. Mix this with water to form a paste and apply this on the boil. It will soon ‘ripen’ and burst. Cumin seeds ground to a paste are also effective when applied to boils. Similarly, a poultice made of milk cream with a pinch of turmeric powder and a few drops of vinegar is an effective home remedy for boils.

Diet for Boils

A healthy diet of fresh fruits and vegetables with lots of orange or lemon juice can help clear the digestive system of toxins and prevent boils or allows them to heal faster. Reduce your intake of starchy, spicy, and refined foods such as cakes, pastries, white breads, pickles, sauces or condiments.

Boils are a kind of skin infection which is caused by a bacterial attack. They generally attack the hair follicles and then spread to other parts of the skin.

What causes boils? Boils are caused by the bacterial colonization in the hair follicles. The microbial agent for boils is staphylococcus bacteria. An infection in the hair follicles leads to the formation of pus in the tissues and accumulation of debris of the dead tissues. A network of boils on the skin is referred to as carbuncles.

What are the symptoms of boils? The symptoms of boils are as follows:

Formation of pus filled lumps on the skin

Pale yellow colored boils on the skin

Pain in the boils

Home Remedies For Treating Boils For Boils Relief

You must stay hydrated and consume sufficient amounts of water and other fluids. Water helps remove harmful bacteria from your body and also acts as an antioxidant.

You must take special care to keep your hair clean and healthy as the bacterial infection in boils starts with the hair follicles.

You must eat a balanced diet so as to supply the essential nutrients to your body.

You should eat foods that are rich in Vitamin A.

You are also recommended to include foods rich in Vitamin E in your diet.

You can use nettle essential oil as an ointment to cure boils. You can replace nettle essential oil with cranberry essential oil to apply on the boils.

These essential oils are natural and concentrated and as such, are highly effective in curing boils.

You can also use parsley to cure the disease.

Boil cumin seeds in water and consume the extract to treat boils.

You may also apply turmeric on the boils on account of its antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

One of the most effective remedies to cure boils is to drink the juice of bitter gourd and fresh lemon juice on an empty stomach, every morning.

You may also apply the extract of betel leaves on the boils.

Boils Skin Affliction | Antiseptic Foods For Treating Boils

Boils are a skin affliction that originates in the oil gland or hair follicle. The face, armpits, neck, buttocks and the shoulders are the areas where boils commonly appear. The bacteria called staphylococcus or staph are responsible for causing this kind of skin condition. Most infections that are caused by these bacteria develop into an abscess and could at times become very serious. The staph germ is present on our skin at all times; it is only when it finds a way to enter the skin that it causes an infection. However there are several health related reasons that can cause one to get boils. Boils are also a common symptom of Diabetes, a lack of proper nutrition, poor hygiene or a problem with one’s immune system.

Simple And Easy Boils Home Remedies

This skin condition can be treated at home with simple and easy home remedies. Milk or milk cream can be used on the boils as a topical application. Apply a little milk cream on the boils and let it sit for about 30 minutes after which you can rinse it off. This will help in softening the boils which in turn will help in draining out the pus. Bitter gourd is known to have antiseptic properties. The juice extracted from the vegetable should be applied generously onto the affected area. Let it dry naturally and then wash it off. The juice will help to kill off microbes, while also soothing the skin at the same time. Boiled parsley leaves are also a common remedy for boils. Boil a few leaves till they turn into a soft pulp. Take a perforated cloth and wrap the soft leaves in it. Place the cloth over the boils; this will help in bringing the pus upto the surface and allowing it to be expelled naturally.

What you choose to eat will also determine how long it takes to get rid of the boils. Since garlic serves as an excellent antiseptic, incorporating it in your diet would be beneficial. It will help in detoxifying your body. Bowel movements also play an important role. Constipation can lead to skin problems as toxins are not being eliminated from the body. Hence, eat plenty of fiber coupled with a substantial intake of water. A healthy balanced diet with all the essential nutrients will strengthen your immune system giving it the ability to ward off infections. Consume a lot of fruits, vegetables and unprocessed food. Stay away from refined and sugary foods, caffeine and fizzy drinks.
