Whooping cough also known as pertussis is a condition that is caused by the Bordetella pertussis bacteria. Whooping cough is a contagious condition that involves an infection of one’s respiratory tract or system. This illness gets its name on account of the “whooping” sound that a person makes while inhaling, after a severe coughing spell. The initial signs and symptoms of this condition are quite similar to that of the common cold. Sneezing, a runny nose, low fever and a mild cough are some of the symptoms of this condition. In about one to two weeks the irritating dry cough gradually turns into severe coughing spells.

Dry Cough Home Remedies – Cold Cough Treatment

There are several home remedies however that can help in treating this condition. Ginger is considered to be one of the best remedies for treating this condition. Grate a piece of ginger and then extract the juice from the shavings. Simultaneously you will need to boil a cup of water (250 ml) and then add a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to the boiling water. Let the two simmer for a while on a low flame, till the quantity of water is reduced to half. Once the decoction cools add a teaspoon of the ginger juice and honey to it and stir. This mixture should be sipped on slowly. It will help in gaining relief from the cough.

Mix a teaspoon each of honey and freshly extracted radish juice. Add a dash of rock salt and mix all the ingredients well. This concoction should be had three times day to help reduce symptoms. Another effective remedy involves the use of almond oil. About 5-6 drops of the oil have to be mixed with 10 drops of ginger juice and onion juice. This mixture has to be consumed three times in a day. Garlic syrup is also recommended for this condition. Half a teaspoon of the syrup has to be had 2-3 times’ a day in order to treat the illness. It should be had more often, if in case the coughing spells tend to get more violent and frequent. Roast 2-3 cloves and then grind them into a fine powder. This should then be added to a teaspoon of powdered milk or sugar. A dash of this mixture if had 3-4 times a day will also help in treating this condition. If none of these remedies seem to work and the condition appears to be getting worse, then consulting a physician is highly recommended.

Ideal Home Remedy For Common Cold and Acute Coughing Sensation

The common cold, as the name suggests, is one of the most widely occurring sickness in the world. A common cold is caused when the upper respiratory tract gets inflamed on account of an infection. This infection is caused by the common cold virus. The frequency of this condition is by far the most as compared to any other illnesses. In fact one individual may get a cold several times during the course of a single year. The cold ideally lasts for four to ten days during which the person invariably feels miserable in the initial 2-3 days. The symptoms of this ailment are congestion in the nasal passage, sore throat, headache, fever, sneezing, body ache, chills and a general loss of appetite. Although it may seem to affect only the nose and throat, it actually affects the entire body.

Simple Home Remedial Measures For Cold And Sore Throat Treatment

This condition can be treated at home itself by following a few simple remedies. Lemon holds prime position in the list of treatments for this condition. This is because it is rich in vitamin C. Lemon juice will help in restoring the body’s strength, decreasing toxicity and in reducing the length of the illness. Dilute one lemon in a glass of lukewarm water. To this, add one teaspoon of honey and stir well. This mixture should be had 2-3 times in a day. Garlic soup too is an age old remedy that is used to battle this illness. Its antispasmodic and antiseptic qualities will help in reducing the severity of the cold. Besides, the oils that are present in garlic cloves will help in opening up the respiratory passage. It will also bring down a fever by eliminating toxins from the body. You can prepare this soup by simply adding chopped garlic to boiling water.

Mix together equal proportions of water and apple cider vinegar. Boil this liquid over a medium flame. Once the solution beings to steam, lean over the saucepan and inhale these vapors deeply. This will help in relieving a stuffy nose. When one has a cold, the most advisable thing to do is desist from eating all forms of solid food and rather, stick to drinking only vegetable or fruit juices and water. Cheese, eggs, meat, fish and starchy food should all be religiously avoided till the illness has been cured. Once the cold has run its course you can gradually move to a well balanced diet comprising of grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits.

Home Remedies For Coughing And Dry Cough

A cough is simply an action taken by your body to get rid of any substance that could be stuck in the air passage. When the tissues that are present along the air passage get irritated a chain of events is triggered. The result is that the air present in the lungs is pushed out under very high pressure. This is what cough is. A cough could either be voluntary – when you cough on your own accord or it could be – your body reacts of its own volition. Similarly, a cough can either be chronic or acute depending on its duration. A cough could also be productive in that it produces mucus, or it could be unproductive – a dry cough. Whatever the categorization may be, a cough is uncomfortable and excessive coughing can leave you fatigued.

Herbal Tips And Remedial Measures For Coughing

There are several home remedies available to help in dealing with a cough. Take one teaspoon of honey and to this add a pinch of white pepper powder. Have this mixture at least 2-3 times in a day. It has been found to be very effective in curing coughs. A mixture of finely ground black pepper and honey is also good for a cough. A teaspoon of this mixture, if had 2-3 times in a day, will help release any mucous that may be lodged in the throat, while also getting rid of irritants that may be present in the trachea. Mix together two tablespoons of water, a tablespoon of honey, 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, quarter teaspoon of ginger (ground) and quarter teaspoon of red pepper. Having a teaspoon a day of this mixture will help to loosen any hardened mucous as well as promote its expulsion.

Crush some cloves and 3-4 garlic pods. Mix the two ingredients together and then add this mixture to a glass of milk. Boil this solution till it is reduced to half of its original quantity. Filter it and drink it at least twice a day, till your cough is cured. Whenever you have a cough it is important to stay away from pickles, processed and refined foods, condiments, coffee, tea, sugar and meats. Drinking a lot of orange or warm carrot juice will also help. Eat a lot of fruits, particularly melons, peaches, pineapples, oranges, grape fruit, grapes, pears and apples. Drinking plenty of water is also important as it will soothe the throat and prevent it from getting dry.
